Do you ever feel overwhelmed by all the pills, supplements, shakes and other products that promise you better health and weight loss? It can be really frustrating! Over the next few weeks I’m going to give you some simple concepts that can get you on track. For now, I want you to put aside your stress and weight loss goals and simply focus on getting healthier. It all starts with Dr. Sear’s L.E.A.N. principles and the 4 S’s! L.E.A.N. stands for Lifestyle, Exercise, Attitude and Nutrition and the 4 S’s are Smoothies, Seafood, Salads and Spices + a bonus from Coach Nancy – Soups!
For optimal health we need to increase our consumption of plant based foods. That’s the hard truth! No processed weight loss shake filled with sugar and other garbage can get you healthy, so put away the $200 a month (or whatever you’re spending on the latest “miracle” product) and pay attention.
One of the easiest ways to boost your nutrition and get healthier is to invest in a quality high speed blender and start making Green Smoothies! This is such an excellent way to add 5-10 extra servings of fruits, veggies and greens that I honestly don’t know why everyone doesn’t do it. There are so many excellent recipes out there that are fun to experiment with and when done correctly can boost your daily nutrition by about 700%!
Here is my go-to recipe from Greensmoothiegirl It’s a great “starter” Smoothie!
1 1/2 cups water and ice
2 larges leaves kale (with stems)
3 large handfuls of spinach
2 cups frozen mixed berries (I love it with all blueberries)
2 rounded T spouted flax or chia
Protein powder (make sure it contains only high quality ingredients and isn’t full of sugar and chemicals)
In a high speed blender, blend water, ice and greens for about 30 seconds. Add other ingredients and blend until smooth. This will yield you 1 quart (2 servings) and about 10 servings of greens and fruits.
